Short Handle Vs Long Bat

Twins

By Manuel Nuñez

In recent times, even though we live in a democracy, the views have had an extremely political apandillamiento dangerous to the survival of the Press.

As if we lived in a democracy hijacked by the dead weight of some personalities, we have seen before our eyes a good portion of those who play the role of journalists, have become public relations officers and men of power.

When journalists on the payroll of the ministries or officials, resign from the sacred duty to report, put their role in the service of lies, intrigue, the information hiding and propaganda. These reproduce reality we see every day, and are an outrage and an embarrassment to our press.

We have good evidence given by individuals who act as murderers nauseating reputations, slander, insults poured, insult, throw the ring rumors liars have engaged in disinformation, and praise to those who have filled with perks. In our press, the prostitution of the truth has become a major threat that the emergence of a totalitarian dictatorship. With the result that have been deleted without freedom of expression of thought, not muzzle people, are the servers of information that apply censorship procedures and have become in gravediggers of the Press.

In the battle for truth we have had many casualties. Some radio programs resemble the despicable public forum, the sad remembrance during the Trujillo Era. Every day, many citizens are defamed, insulted, subjected to the humiliation of the gallows Caudine by individuals engaged in a radio booth. Fortunately, some very few legal submissions, I have remembered a few, the boundaries of decency. But overall, these behaviors are kept sailing.

Journalist Code of Ethics has been broken a lot. We live in a huge moral crisis of not knowing who we are or where to go or where we come from. Justice does not work, education does not make the slugger of the future, democracy perishes, kidnapped in the hands of the parties. We live in an era of shady retreat. And yet, we are pleased to note that the Press has survived. That has not been completely seduced by either the power or the interest nor the money. There are moral forces incarnate in investigative journalism in television commentators and radio, and a few writers who tell us continually that we have not completely succumbed. They have saved the honor of the Press. They paid a high price for things that are priceless. Have reminded us that the press should be an indispensable counterweight for democracy to function. A counterweight to denounce, to censure the extravagances, the abuses, abuse of power wherever they come from. The divorce between the press and society is contrary to democracy. Press

When joined his country's interests, such as happened in the campaign against the installation of a cement factory in the Park Haitises, as has occurred in the cross-appeal on 4% of GDP education, and great honor for journalists, the initiative to defend the English language, integrated texts suppressed, the press is, then, the mission forgotten. Without it, run over, would not have even the arbitrariness moral sanction, we would have no memory of the abuse, the exercise of discretion would be eclipsed and the public would be helpless.

Even though most of allegations of corruption, breaches of the rule of law and the law often go unpunished, that the scandals have fallen on deaf ears, that nothing surprises us and moves us in a world where cynicism reigns, passion and extravagance, the Dominicans of the future may quench the thirst for justice and righteousness in libraries, social networking, the Internet and where it is exposed, as in a frieze ancient history of this given to the press by a few journalists.
